The Head of Design Men’s & Energy plays a critical role in shaping the future of Lacoste footwear by leading the creative vision for two of the brand’s strategic growth categories.
This role is responsible for translating Lacoste’s brand codes into relevant and desirable footwear propositions that resonate with today’s global consumer while building long-term brand equity.
Operating at both a strategic and hands-on level, the Head of Design Men’s & Energy sets a clear creative direction, elevates design quality and drives innovation across silhouettes, platforms, materials and tooling. The role ensures that creativity is not only bold and distinctive, but also commercially impactful, scalable and aligned with business priorities.
As a design leader, this position also plays a key role in building and nurturing design talent, fostering a strong creative culture and acting as a strategic partner to Product Merchandising, Development, Innovation and Marketing teams. The Head of Design Men’s & Energy is expected to influence beyond design, helping define what Lacoste footwear stands for in men’s and energy-driven categories today and in the future.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Design Leadership & Creative Ownership
· Own and lead the creative vision, design direction and execution for Men’s and Energy footwear categories, from early concept through final product delivery.
· Translate Lacoste’s heritage, brand codes into bold, contemporary and distinctive footwear expressions.
· Set a clear design point of view for Men’s and Energy, balancing innovation, performance, lifestyle expertise.
· Ensure consistency, quality and coherence of design language across seasons, ranges and product tiers.
· Elevate design standards while challenging conventions and pushing new creative territories aligned with brand ambition.
2. Consumer, Culture & Market Insight
· Drive deep understanding of Men’s and Energy consumers, including sport, performance, lifestyle and cultural dynamics.
· Stay ahead of trends in footwear design, materials, constructions, tooling and competitor landscape.
· Translate insights into strong creative opportunities for new silhouettes, platforms, toolings and material expressions.
· Define seasonal narratives, concepts and stories that inspire internal teams and resonate externally.
· Act as a cultural filter, ensuring relevance across global and key strategic markets.
3. Product Development & Execution
· Oversee the creation and validation of upper and tooling concepts, tech packs, blueprints and 3D assets where required.
· Partner closely with Footwear Development and Materials teams to ensure design intent is preserved through development and production.
· Anticipate and solve design-to-manufacturing challenges while balancing quality, cost and timing targets.
· Manage complex calendars, multiple projects and key milestones across seasons.
· Participate in development reviews, factory visits and supplier engagements as needed.
4. Team Leadership & Creative Development
· Lead, inspire and develop a team of designers across Men’s and Energy categories.
· Set clear expectations, provide direction and constructive feedback, and foster a high-performance creative culture.
· Build strong collaboration within the design team and across functions, encouraging curiosity, accountability and ownership.
· Identify talent needs and contribute to building future design capabilities for the brand.
5. Cross-Functional Collaboration & Influence
· Work closely with Product Merchandising, Development, Materials, and Marketing teams.
· Play a key role in design reviews, range presentations and milestone meetings with senior leadership.
· Present design strategies and concepts with clarity, conviction and adaptability to different audiences.
· Ensure strong alignment between categories and contribute to a cohesive, future-facing footwear portfolio.
Perfil
· Extensive experience in footwear design, with strong exposure to men’s, performance and energy-driven categories.
· Proven leadership experience managing and developing creative teams.
· Deep understanding of footwear constructions, materials, tooling and manufacturing processes.
· Strong strategic mindset with the ability to balance creativity, brand vision and commercial realities.
· Excellent storytelling and presentation skills, with the ability to influence at senior level.
· High level of autonomy, ownership and ability to operate in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
· Comfort working across global teams and multicultural contexts.
· Willingness to travel internationally several times per year.
